My Complaint Description:
CONSUMERS BEWARE!!! I had no hot water so I called American Home Shield (AHS) to request for a plumber to come out. A plumber came out on Monday and said my hot water heater needs to be replaced. This made sense to me since it was 16 years old. He said he will order a new one. While I waited, I had to boil hot water on my stove and electric kettle. I mentioned this to my sister and she said they should have been able to install a new hot water heater that day. She said all they had to do was go to Home Depot and buy it. I went online and saw where the Home Depot installs new hot water heater on the same day provided you call them before noon.

At this point it's Friday of that week so I called the plumber for a status and he said AHS was suppose to call me for an update. He told me I had to pay $715 for code requirements. I was shocked because according to my AHS contact they pay for all components and parts of a water heater. Since the code requirements involved attaching parts to the water heater in order for it to work, that should have been covered by AHS. I called AHS and was put on hold for 20 minutes so I hung up, called back and was placed on hold for 20 minutes again. I hung up, called back later on and the same thing occurred.

I contacted AHS through the online chat line and no one answered after I waited for 10 mins. I tried again and to my luck someone answered. She told me AHS doesn't cover code requirements and I had to dish out $715. I was furious! About a week later I receive a generic letter from AHS apologizing for the customer service I experienced but it didn't address my main issue. I will cancel my policy with them and put the money I pay for the policy in my own "home warranty" savings account. And to think I was going to get a policy for my mother and recommended AHS to a friend. They won't be getting it now!

My Complaint Description:
United States Post Office service is the worse! Don't think you're ever going to get someone to answers the phone at 800-222-1811! I have waited almost a week for a letter that was mail priority. The text alerts that say the package is out for delivery is a lie. I could go on about the service but I have learned that bad service is actually the norm at United States postal service.

United Airlines Complaint – Rip-Off Package Deals

Subject: Rip-Off Package Deals

Country: USA
My Complaint Against: United Airlines

Claim Amount (Approx.):
My Complaint Description:
If you think buying hotel/airline package will save you money, think again. CheapOair (a pawn in this Ponzi scheme) got me $914 deal for ticket and four nights when I flew from Boise, ID to Northwest Arkansas. Come to find out (because they are big and powerful) United had gobbled up $700 of that total for a Basic Economy ticket. If you have ever traveled Basic Economy be careful not to get trampled by the other animals in steerage. That left a meager $190 for rooms for 4 night and if you can imagine, Bethlehem's stable has better accommodations!

Days Inn was filthy and I and most other guests had to have sheets changed prior to going to bed. There was a line at the front desk with complaints. And when you called CheapOair to switch accommodations, Andre in India was apologetic but needed to visit with the hotel manager who never showed up.

It was a blight on my time in Arkansas with my son and grandchildren. I dreaded going back to the hotel which reminded me of a crime movie. The walls were stained, handles missing and one wasn't sure even the water was clean! Much less worrying about bed bugs. I am avoiding both in the future! Thugs and slugs.

United Airlines Complaint – Scam Marketing Practices

Subject: Scam Marketing Practices
My Name: James
My City: SCHAUMBURG
My State/Territory: ILLINOIS
Country: USA
My Complaint Against: United Airlines
Complaint Category: Tours & Travels
Claim Amount (Approx.):
My Complaint Description:
I need to alert others to a fraudulent, devious marketing scam being conducted by United Marketing Group with headquarters in Schaumberg, Illinois. I received a very official looking postcard in the mail addressed to me with the following offer:

Front side: Final Notice James: An Unclaimed Reward worth up to $100 in Savings is being held for you at our main Distribution Center. To receive this REWARD, please call us now, toll free, at 1-866-991-5478. WARNING: Failure to call will result in an AUTOMATIC FORFEITURE of this REWARD. Please call at once for details. YOUR RELEASE CODE: 041861988

Back Side: "Dear James Our records indicate you have an unclaimed reward. We are holding $100.00 in Savings for you good at Wal-Mart, Target and more – in your name! Please call us toll free at 1-866-991-5478 to claim this reward!

When I called, the sales representative informed me I will receive a $100 Gift Card and a free $50 Dining Certificate good at many locations. All that is required is a $4.95 activation fee charged to a credit card, then I will be transferred to a Manager who will verify the info and give me an Activation Code needed to activate the rewards after receiving a mail packet. Merely answer each of the following questions with "okay" to complete the process.

This all sounds simple, right? What happens next is there are several other recorded offers presented, each with another $4.95 Activation Fee, a short 10-14 day trial period followed by a monthly fee charged to the credit card unless each is canceled prior to the end of the trial. If you say "no" to any of the offers, the whole deal is off, you get nothing, no activation code is received for the initial rewards, and they keep the initial $4.95 fee.

Their ploy is that you have to "Okay" and pay $4.95 to activate all/each of these offers, with the hope you will fail to cancel them before the monthly, non-refundable charges begin. Their whole marketing strategy is to force you to listen to and "okay" all of the offers to get the "rewards" and then continue with each after the trial period.

Valuair / Jetstar Complaint – Short Flight – Long Delay

Subject: Short Flight – Long Delay
My Name: Kass068805

My Complaint Against: Valuair / Jetstar
Complaint Category: Tours & Travels
Claim Amount (Approx.):
My Complaint Description:
I have been a regular flier between Singapore and Jakarta on Valuair, part of Jetstar. Recently their punctuality of flights has deteriorated very much. The flight from Jakarta is short, only 1 hr 15 mins. My wife and small children checked in last night 19/6/10 for the 10 pm flight VF506. Valuair then announced delays, firstly one hour, then a further 6 hours till 4 am and then again another few hours delay till 8.40 am. My family and all the other passengers have now been waiting at Jakarta airport departure lounge for the whole night where there are zero facilities. I have been up the whole night still waiting to receive them.

The Airline only provided them with a burger and water. The arrival time at Singapore has not been announced yet. My family and I have also experienced long delays with Valuair in the recent past. I will certainly not choose Valuair again, even though they're bit cheaper. The service is now very lousy and they lied to my family about delays to avoid responsibility to care for them, firstly blaming Valuair Singapore, then Valuair Head Office in Australia. SHAME on Valuair / Jetstar.
