In March of 2003, My husband went to the Emergency Room at Manatee Memorial Hospital for an Eye Injury. He had a small piece of metal stuck in his eye. Shortly after he arrived, in a waiting room full of people, His name was called & he followed a nurse to a room where she proceeded to take his blood pressure & heart rate. After she did this, He expected a Doctor to be looking at his eye but instead, He was directed to go back to the waiting room until his name is called again.

Stunned by this seemingly odd order of care, & noticing how many people were in the waiting room, He thought to ask… “Approximately how long will I have to wait to see the Doctor”? & When she replied… “It’s about a four hour wait”. He said “Forget It… I’m out of here!” & He went home & went to bed… Without seeing the Doctor. The next morning, He went back to the Hospital, hoping that they weren’t as busy. They didn’t appear as busy but he asked them up-front, right away… “How long of a wait”? When they told him approx. 2 1/2 – 3 hours he said “Forget it, this is ridiculous & left”!

He had to go to work & suffered through the day & it wasn’t until later the following day that he was finally seen by a doctor because he couldn’t bare the discomfort any longer. He was seen by a wonderful doctor At Urgent Care where I called ahead to inform of the problem & although the office hours were over, The Doctor waited for my husband. Lo & behold, The metal was RUST and not only could my husband have gotten lead poisoning, but the rust could have stained the blue in his eye & who knows what else could have resulted without proper care.

The Doctor had to perform eye surgery right then and there. Afterward, My husband gratefully paid the Doctor for his care which was worth so much more than what he charged! Anyhow, The appalling thing that happened occurred within a week of my husband’s eye injury when He received a BILL FROM MANATEE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN THE AMOUNT OF $115.25! More than the Doctor’s fee at Urgent Care! I tried to dispute this fee with the Hospital But, I got nowhere.

I painfully paid 68.00 (after Insurance paid their part) to the hospital just to take my husband’s vital signs! (at night!). I feel that the Hospital had no right to charge anything at all, when you consider the fact that my husband could have stopped at the local Winn Dixie to have his blood pressure/Heart rate checked for free by one of those machines and got a print out for the Hospital.

Besides, He did not go to the Hospital for any reason that would signal a warning of heart attack or stroke. He went to get medical care for his eye injury and he never received that care at the hospital. Furthermore, His vital signs could change in FOUR HOURS of “Waiting” to see the Doctor! I feel that this was an Emergency Room Scam! If they take your vital signs right away, They have you locked-in to owing them no matter what! My husband was unaware of this… who would think of it?

My Advice? I can’t give any medical advice But, Unless it’s a Life or Death situation, or you are unsure of what is wrong, try to avoid the emergency room! If you must go, ask in advance how long of a wait before they do Anything or you could find yourself in my husband’s situation And they waste no time sending you a bill! This had me so burned up that, when I came across this site, It came to mind and I feel that the time into writing about it or even paying what I did, would be worth it if I could save others from this happening to them. I just can’t believe that they are able to get away with it! Either that or… I haven’t taken my complaint to the right places!

I will never go to MMH ever again! My 21 month old son was admitted into the ER at 1am by his sitter cause I work 12hr nights and could not leave work. When I got off work at 6 am and arrived at the ER the doctor had still not seen my son! The only thing they did was a breathing treatment and take his temp. OK now imagine an almost 2 yr old with a high fever close to 104 degrees, no sleep, a horrible wheezing/barking cough, a runny nose, and who knows what ever else is hurting him cause he can’t tell me yet!

My poor baby was so miserable and all he wanted was mommy and his bed. Well to go on the doctor finally made his presence and was quick to say it was just the croup cough. Now I have been through this croup before and this time seemed different, it seemed worse. So I questioned the doctor’s abilities. I asked them how he could be so sure it was croup and just viral? I asked him if he did a chest x-ray? He told me he did not. Wrong answer! I told him how I felt and that he did have a sinus infection a few days ago… and I the mom still have one now. OK his snot is clear now but where did all that yellow/green crap go a few days ago.

What if he has a bacterium infection and you don’t check for it and you only send me home with you saying it is the croup and give him steroids? So since I insisted on a chest x-ray he had one done. AND IMAGINE THIS….. the doctor comes back and tells my my son has a bacterial/viral phenomena…. so he had antibiotics, steroids, and a breathing treatment prescribed. And we still didn’t leave the ER till 8 am…. uhhhh!

So if I wouldn’t have been so proactive and pushy my son could be worse right now and seriously ill! MMH lost all my confidence that morning! Never again! 8 hours just for a wrong diagnose that is if I didn’t intervene. I will never place the life of my son again in one of their ER doctors again!

I recently received an order of medical/health supplies from Liberty Medical Supply company. This greedy operation had billed my insurance companies and received payment before the supplies were sent. They were sleeping when it came to including the filters for my machine which is very important. The other supplies were unusable and defective. They were returned the next day. I called the phone number supplied for customer service telling a very dense lady of my issues with the garbage they sent. I am certain the lady I talked with on the phone is not capable of dressing herself.

I did return the supplies and received delivery confirmation from the USPS. Almost 2 weeks went by with no communication or acknowledgement of the returned products from the wonderful Liberty Medical Supply staff. I then sent a letter to the department supervisor and received delivery confirmation from that letter, and again heard nothing. I sent 2 emails with delivery and read report and received delivery confirmation on both but a read report on only one. I am sure only one person employed there can read but only single syllable words.

The email that was not read did contain some 2 & 3 syllable words which was completely over their heads, and after searching for the delete key for a couple hours it was finally deleted. Then I sent a certified letter to the office of the president of Liberty Medical and have heard nothing yet. They are probably looking for someone that can read my letter to the President of Liberty Medical. I believe anyone that would allow this type of conduct from customer service is not able to read.

The office of the President I am sure has trained all the other gerbils how to ignore customers. They are all certainly good at ignoring me, and should they ever be able to channel that talent into taking care of business they may be able to experience a repeat customer.

Finally after nearly 4 weeks I heard from one of Liberty Medical’s best. This girl was so full of herself I was amused. I am sure she thought by her contacting me this was the high point of my day, and I should feel special. She was not capable of crediting my insurance companies as per my request, and I still don’t know why she called and wasted my time. She was not capable of doing anything. If I could get a look at the shape of her head I could possibly have a better understanding of her abilities. Maybe she is there to help dress the first lady I spoke with weeks ago.

I am sure I will need to continually contact this bunch of incompetent buffoons until I receive confirmation of credit to my insurance companies. Anybody out there that experiences the world class customer service provided by Liberty Medical needs to know a valuable bit of information. Simply Send a complaint to: The US Department of Health & Human Services, 200 Independence Avenue South West, Washington, DC 20201. The people here love to hear from you concerning medical & health companies that abuse Medicare and the insured by Medicare.

Liberty Medical has done an outstanding job of ignoring me, and I was assured they will not ignore The US Department of Health & Human Services. This little tidbit of information was proudly made available to all you good people from me as a duty of my commitment to help all of us from the frustrations caused by the incompetent Liberty medical supply company. Thank you, I thoroughly enjoyed a small part of getting even with this pathetic bunch of life that has no integrity.

Liberty Medical Supply Complaint-Absolutely Deplorable Service

I have used and benefitted greatly from the use of a DexCom CGM for several years now and was thrilled to learn from my endocrinologist on 3/31/17 that Medicare was going to pay for CGM systems. Instead of ordering directly from DexCom, however, I was to order from Liberty Medical Supply. Paperwork was submitted to Liberty Medical before I left the doctor’s office that day. I immediately called Liberty Medical to start to process from my side. It has been nothing but a huge headache ever since! I had to made multiple submissions of the same paperwork because they claimed never to have received my (and my doctor’s) faxes.

On May 11, I left for a two-week trip to China. I had one sensor left at the time and inserted that one before flying. On May 10, I call Liberty to inquire about the status of my 90-day shipment and was told that all the required paperwork was (finally) in and the shipment should happen within a day or two. I would be informed by email. Two weeks later (May 23) I arrived back in the States, Having received no email and to find no supplies at my house.

A week later, following several phone calls to Liberty by me and statements by them that the shipment should happen any day, I was finally told that they were out of the ordered supplies and that the supplies were finally in and my shipment should happen any day. The delays have been endless and the final straw came on May 31, when I demanded to speak with a supervisor. Jays spoke with me, listened, and said he would arrange to have my shipment to me by Saturday, June 3.

Yesterday, June 1, he called me back (the first call I’ve ever received from Liberty) to say that the shipment had changed and that I wouldn’t get the supplies until Monday, June 5. I’ve now been without CGM support for two weeks, which affects my BS control to a great extent! I insisted that he had made a promise to me and that they could overnight the shipment, so I would have it June 2 (Friday), since UPS doesn’t deliver on Saturday. He said he would arrange it.

This morning, (June 2) I got an email with the tracking number and the expected delivery date… June 5! If I actually receive the shipment, it will definitely be my last purchase/dealing with Liberty Medical Services. Let the buyer beware!!

Huntsville Hospital Complaint-Billing

In my opinion Huntsville Hospital commits Insurance Fraud. I was admitted to this hospital earlier this year and informed everyone in charge of my care that I had lost my insurance in October 04 and that I needed to speak to someone from the business office. In fact I was released by my doctor to help me keep cost down and allowed to come back to have the operation. That is two admissions and each time as I went through the admission process I told them I had no insurance. Yet when all was said and done they billed the insurance company and was paid by the insurance company and billed me for the deductible. I paid that and paid the doctor bills on my Visa.

They sent me a statement saying my account was paid in full. The insurance company caught the mistake and took their money back. Of course I am now being billed by the hospital. Isn’t this fraud if they knew I had no insurance and billed the company anyway? Does anyone have advise on this problem and how I can get the hospital to work with me? Also they are billing me for the full amount not the amount they billed the insurance company for.
